Introduction to Mosaics or Other Mosaic Experience Required
Tuition plus cost of supplies, purchase or bring your own tools.
Come learn to mosaic a beautiful flower pot for your home or garden! Creating a 3D mosaic can often be more complicated than anticipated, often leading to frustration. There's a lot to learn! What type of adhesive do I use? How do I keep my tiles from sliding off? Do I need to seal this before and/or after I mosaic it? What is unique about an outdoor mosaic vs. an indoor mosaic? All these questions, and more, will be answered in this one-day workshop. Due to the complexity of creating a mosaic on a curved surface, completing the project may take more than one day. We will discuss grouting and provide a handout for grouting at home.
Bring a 10” or larger made in Texas or Italy pot. Pots made in Mexico don’t hold up as well.
Please also bring or purchase on first day of class:
• Pre-Selected Pattern and Glass - You Can Pre-Cut Your Focal Pieces - Use Mosaic or Lead Shears
• Glass Cutter & Pliers
• Wheeled Mosaic Cutters (nippers)
• Fabric Tape Measure
• Waterproof Adhesive Glue
• Tweezers for Placing Tessarae
• Sharpie
• Plastic Baggies for leftover Tessarae and a box to carry things home in
Please wear long cotton pants and closed toe shoes, and bring safety glasses if you own them.
