Nikki O'Neill - Corallite Creations Sculptural Glass

Corallite Creations Sulptural Glass with Nikki O'Neill - NOTE: CLASS DATE CHANGE - June 27 - 30, 2025
No Experience Required!
Tuition includes all supplies and firings.
Harmony is excited to host guest artist Nikki O'Neill who is a popular repeat teacher at Corning Museum of Glass in New York.
In Corallite Creations, Nikki will lead an adventure in layering and manipulating glass powder, stringers, sheet glass, and frit. In addition to classic coral-like forms, you will make powder dough sponges, stringer rod anemones, sgraffito sheet glass, and segmented seaweed. These organic sculptures will be
suggestive of the rich colors and forms of reef creatures.
Through explorations using dry and wet powder techniques, flame-working, sagging, slumping, and multiple firings, you'll create unique lifelike forms. You’ll achieve a thorough understanding of how heat and surface tension work together with powder placement in the kiln by making multi-component sculptural vessels and medallions.
Creative hanging and mounting techniques for the assembled Corallite Creations will be demonstrated using adhesives, professional hardware, and earth magnets. Don't miss this exciting chance to learn sculptural glass from a master!
Class will meet each day from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm with a break for lunch. Class may end early on the last day.
Register for both of Nikki's classes - Corallite Creations and Magical Metals & Reactive Glass - and receive a $100 discount! Please pay the downpayment for both classes and your discount will be applied to your balance due before the first day of class.
All materials, supplies and firing are included.
Nikki O’Neill has been working with glass for over 30 years and currently uses kiln-forming techniques to create sculptures and vessels from glass powder and from recycled float glass. O’Neill found her passion for art and working with glass while earning her Ph.D. in biology. Since retiring as a research scientist, she works full-time as a studio glass artist and educator, applying art and science to the exploration of life origins and nature’s creatures in marine habitats. O’Neill finds inspiration from the continuum of life and death, and the evolution of organisms from primitive, organic origins, to complex forms evolved over millions of years. Nikki O’Neill lives in Maryland, and exhibits her work and teaches her signature classes nationwide.
